About me…
I am a registered music therapist with over fifteen years’ experience working in healthcare and residential care settings across London and the South East.
Professional Experience
Much of my work has focused on supporting older adults living in care homes. Alongside this work I continue to practise in cancer care, supporting patients and families through treatment, end of life or bereavement. Over the years I have also worked extensively with people living with autism spectrum conditions, neurological illnesses and other conditions that affect communication and emotional wellbeing.
Training and Professional Background
I trained as a music therapist at the Nordoff Robbins Centre in London, completing a Master’s degree in Music Therapy in 2011. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT). Alongside clinical practice I have presented at conferences, facilitated the Group Music Therapy module on the Nordoff Robbins Master’s training programme, supervised other music therapists, and delivered training workshops for care staff on using music to support residents’ wellbeing.
Musical Background
Before training as a music therapist I worked as a secondary school music teacher and for three years ran the Soho Jazz Festival in London.
Alongside my therapeutic work I compose and record music for television and children’s media. One of my songs, Love is Love, written for Hopster TV, won several awards including a Kidscreen Diversity award and the European ‘Lovie’ award for Diversity & Inclusion. I play piano, guitar, saxophone, percussion and sing.
My music therapy practice draws on this wider musical background, to create flexible, responsive and therapeutically grounded musical experiences.
